Turbike.org documents the progress of Sean Callagy‘s pedal powered alternator project in Ireland.

Anyone who is trying to build a pedal powered generator should find this site interesting.

The project is based on an alternator that we built with Eirbyte in a course there in 2010.  There will be another course this year in June.  It’s always a lot of fun building turbines with Jimmy and Miriam, so I hope you will join us there.

  1. Paul says:

Is the Chain sufficient. No belt for the whole diameter of the tire? I need a refresher actually. It has been two years since I took the course in Grece, but I soon hope to build land based piggot generators. First I need to source the magnets and copper though.

  2. Nice info. First you kick off to think about alternatives to conserve energy, and then you start to think about alternative energy techniques. Generating power for your residence, with alternative energy systems can seem fairly daunting, in case you don’t know how the system works. While there are actually down sides for a few forms of renewable energy, that doesn’t mean we should not think about them.
