power curve

Big one Power curve

3 metres per second or 7 mph is where most windmills start to charge. At that point we get about 400 watts of power into the battery and under 100 watts of heat. Maximum power is achieved at about 6 m/s or 14 mph. After that we tend to get less if anything, but the site is turbulent so sometimes we will be getting 2-3 kW of battery charging in gusts. what you see here is ten minute averages. Heat is about 500 watts average which is plenty most of the year but I am thinking of adjusting it up a wee fraction now the weather is colder.
