Build your own windmill workshop course on Scoraig April 26th

I am planning to hold a course here on Scoraig at the end of April.  We’ll build and test a wind turbine as usual.  Accommodation is provided from Saturday 26th April to Saturday 3rd May.  These will be the arrival and departure days.  The course will run for six days from 27th to 2nd.  Your partner may be able to find accommodation here too without attending the workshop. Please ask for details.

See photos of 2012 course and 2013 course and a video.   Cost will be £750 including accommodation.  I may be able to offer a limited number of student discounts if there are enough people paying full price.

Contact me for more details and to book a place.  I do not plan to travel around teaching courses this year as I have done over the last 12 years or so.  This may be your only opportunity to be taught by me personally, although there are several other groups worldwide offering courses based on my Recipe Book or derivatives of it.

      hi Adaybhan,

I suggest you ask a person who has the ability to use paypal on the internet to get it for you and then pay them, when they deliver it. We do send them to India by post quite often.

      cheers

Hi. I live in Estonia. More Specifically, On The Island Of Saaremaa. We have been watching very carefully to Your doings. We wish to invite you here to do the workshop. How to build yourself a 3kW wind generator? We have a lot of fans here. If you can plan ahead for our time? This workshop could take place in the summer of that year. We will pay for your travel. We need to know the cost of the workshop. How many people are in your group? What details must first be available? We have for you a free place to sleep. We have a lot of tools that you do not need to take. Please Your answer and a price quote. Us would fit well into June, July. There is also the Sea close by, you can catch fish and go swimming.

      hi Egon,

Thanks for inviting me to come to Estonia. It’s an honour. Unfortunately I have made a decision not to travel around the world and teach courses any more. I have plenty of work to do at home. And there are local groups all around the world already teaching courses for people who want to build my wind turbines. YOu can learn more about them here http://www.windempowerment.org

In your case I suggest you try asking http://www.samsaara.ee/

Sorry I can’t come and help you.

      Have fun, Hugh

Yes, Hugh that is really hfupell. I really appreciate your input.I think then it is normal to see these numbers. What I am not sure about now why the turbine is too slow when I connect it to the batteries even at high wind speed. as soon I disconnect it from the batteries the turbine rotate quickly again. Is that normal too or I need to modify something. I am worried the rectifier or the controller is damaged. Thanks

        hi Pedro,
This comment seems to be in the wrong place but I will reply anyway. Yes it is completely normal that the wind turbine runs faster when disconnected and it slows down when you have a load on it. It’s just like an engine in a car speeds up when you push down the throttle but if you let in the clutch it slows the engine down. It’s actually not recommended to let the wind turbine run disconnected from everything because it overspeeds and makes noise and vibration. It’s best to keep it connected to the battery.

If it will not produce much power, and is running slowly then it may be too slow and it may be stalling so it is worth trying a larger air gap to increase the operating rpm and see if that helps.

        hugh
