The video was shot and edited by Centre for Alternative Technology.  Thanks.

About hugh

I live off-grid in NW Scotland and have spent my life playing with wind turbines. I also love small hydros. Hands on renewable energy is my thing and I like to learn and to share my experiences.

Thanks Hugh, I bought your book at CAT a few years ago – its a great place and always worth a visit whenever we get down to Wales from sunny Lancashire. I have been inspired by your book and now, with the kids am converting an electric fan motor into a mini hydro plant – our first project and it is great fun. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

Your statement about creativity is the key. Saving money is not the issue that will carry anyone anywhere.
People do ridiculous things like building hotrods, buying snowmobiles (here at least) or motorboats. People outfit cars to accelerate quickly in drag races. People also do sports and art. Why not combine art, creativity and passion in the construction of a wind machine ?
Think of all of those British steam engine and Stirling engine enthusiasts. Wind is the same. Allow your passions to lead you into wind power for the right reasons; fun. In the consumerized world, we have forgotten about the creative capacity of the human spirit. Satisfy that lost urge by building something useful.
